Evelyn Richie Shaw

Evelyn was born in Dalmellington, Scotland and moved to Cumberland with her family when she was 14yr. old. She worked at the family Café as a waitress. She was a very talented accordion player and had many offers to perform for community and private functions.

Evelyn met her husband Joe Gawryluk, they resided in Cumberland and started a family. It didn’t take long till they had 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She volunteered with the CRI, Heart and Cancer Society, Child Development Center, Kinsmen, Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department and Legion and the school.

Once her children were grown, she went back to school, started a career as Home Care Worker for over 20 years.

Evelyn passed away quietly and unexpectedly. She will be dearly missed by her children, family, and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rusell-Atkinson, all the Nurses and Care Workers at the Cumberland Lodge for their care, patience, and kindness to our mother.

There will be a private family gathering, no service as per Mom’s wishes.

You will be deeply missed.
