Obituary

The world lost an Angel on August 1, as Donna made her journey to be with God.

Her passing was sudden, and a shock to us all.

She suffered a major heart attack on July 10th. After returning home, blood clots resulted in a return to Royal Jubilee in Victoria, and two operations. Alas, her heart finally stopped in the early morning of our 45th wedding anniversary, July 31st. She was in ICU on life support until her passing, and during that time Brent (husband), Bryanne (daughter), Blake (son), Jennifer (daughter in law), and little Dylan (grandson) all got to see her and say their goodbyes. It had been so frustrating with covid protocol preventing us from being by her side during her days in the hospital, so we talked each day by phone and facetime. Only when she was on life support in ICU were we allowed to be with her.

Our family has a very strong faith, and it is some comfort. We are confident she is in a better place, and although our family is heartbroken and sad beyond words at our loss, it is Heaven's gain. What makes this especially tragic is the knowledge that Donna won’t be here physically to watch her grandson, Dylan grow, but we know she will be watching over all of us. She prayed and prayed for that little (BIG) miracle, and was so grateful, excited and full of love for him. Her time with him on earth was short, but her love lives on forever, as will all of ours for this wonderful lady.

Donna was such a vibrant beautiful person in every sense of the word. She was the self-professed "Queen of Bling", and was Class personified with her beautiful smile ever present. She truly did light up a room. Donna always cared so much for others and always saw only the good in everyone. Her selfless dedication in helping with charities and organizing events was another wonderful asset and she had no problem getting up in front of a microphone. She made things happen.

Active over the years in golf, curling and pickleball she was quietly competitive and especially proud of the accomplishments of her team at the Scott Tournament of Hearts representing BC from 1980-1982.

She enjoyed travelling. Our family loved to camp and RV, and we were fortunate enough to travel extensively, always leaving behind a trail of new friends across Canada, England, Mexico, and the USA to name a few. Donna had a unique magnetism that instantly drew people to her.

Donna was an elementary school teacher in her early working career, then a stay-at-home Mum. She dabbled in Avon, property management and selling weekender clothing before she became a realtor at age 50. In her career as a realtor, she was second to none, always putting her client's needs first. She used to say, " fine isn't good enough, we will find the house that you fall in love with." Sometimes she even talked clients out of buying or selling if she felt it wasn’t in their best interests.

If nothing else, Donna was always honest. She wore her feelings on her sleeve, you never had to wonder what she was thinking. Mind you she was fond of saying " I never color outside of the lines, and Brent never colors inside of them." So true.

A celebration of life will be held at The Park at Crown Isle (off Anderton Rd,)., on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 2pm. This event will take place outdoors (covered in case of weather) and will be live streamed, both for those in attendance and those unable to be there in person. This venue together with the live streaming should be able to accommodate any number of folks who would like to attend.

In lieu of flowers, we recommend donations to Wheels for Wellness (www.wheelsforwellness.com 250-338-0196). However, if you would still like to bring flowers, she loved red ones and we will display them at the celebration. We will have a slideshow and photos on display. if you have some favorite photos you would like to be shared, or a personal message or fond memory, please email them to brentanddonna76@gmail.com. Also, rather than an open mike -if you feel you would like to say a few words -you are encouraged to do so but it may help if you let the family know so we can schedule

Lastly, the family wishes to express our gratitude to all our wonderful friends. The outpouring of love and heartfelt sympathy has been humbling, a great comfort and is so very much appreciated.
