Well, it’s been a slice.
Donald Peter Burton Geiger, NRG, LBA, died May 5, 2023 at nearly 82 years of age, with his family by his side, in Campbell River BC.
Don was born in Princeton, BC on May 29th, 1941 to Bill and Rachel Geiger. He was mostly raised in Bralorne BC and had many great stories about his life there, including crazy horse race stories and his early life underground. Don finished high-school in Kamloops BC and then went to BCIT to become a carpenter. He then returned there and that’s where he met Lois. They were married July 3, 1965.
Over the years Don had many jobs including, Rough Carpenter, Tree Type Guy, Road Builder, Fire Putter Outer, Fire Watcher, Boat Place Operator, Gas Man, House Seller, Miner Faller, Tree Pruner, and Glass Guy. Don was active in the Union until his retirement.
Don was a wanderer and led his family all over BC including Enderby, Horsefly, Williams Lake, Thetis Island, Keremeos, Prince Rupert, Uclulet, Clearwater, Haida Gwaii, and finally to Campbell River to settle in with his Grandchildren.
His Hobbies included, Proud Grandpa, Accomplished Fly Fisherman, Creative Fly Tier, Rocket Builder, Wine Maker, Food Conversationalist, Master Purloiner, Herring Jigger, Kite Flyer, Ball Coach, Hat Stealer, Bull S@#t Artist, Tarp Stringer, Story Teller, Dog Treater, Remote Controller, Fry Chef, Card Shark, Book Reader, and Adventurer.
He was involved in many charitable organizations including, the Masonic Lodge, the Elks and the Eagles
Don was loved by his wife Lois, daughters Karen Geiger, Beth Newton and Kelcie Hyatt, son in laws, Mike Newton and Ken Hyatt, and grandchildren, Cait Newton, Kenny Hyatt, Ryan Newton, Kurtis Hyatt, and Katelynn Hyatt.
There will be no service ( especially no fiddle music or bagpipes) at his request. As Don so often said, “I wonder WHERE this road goes?”
