Dennis Irvine Obituary

Dennis Richardson Irvine

August 26, 2024

December 29, 1935 - August 26, 2024

In loving memory of

Dennis was born in Chemainus to Dorothy and Stuart Irvine and was the second of their five children. He lived all of his life in Chemainus and Ladysmith. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and he loved to sing, especially the old Scotch songs.

Dennis loved sports and for many years he umpired both baseball and softball. He was involved in Little League baseball as umpire, coach, and administrator. He was in the Boy Scout movement for many years, first as cub leader and later as an administrator. He was an accomplished 10 pin bowler.

Dennis was recognized by Canadian Blood Services for the 192 units of blood that he donated. Dennis gave 50 years of his life to the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He brought a dying Ladysmith Aerie #2101 back to life and was largely responsible for the acquisition and construction of the present building. He instituted the now defunct but highly successful Chemainus-Crofton Aerie #4400. Dennis reached the status of Pacific Northwest Regional President and was inducted in the BC Eagles Hall of Fame.

Dennis and his wife, Pat, were recognized as Ladysmith's Citizens of the Year in 1998.

Dennis was an oyster farmer and for most of his life was owner/operator of Timothy Oyster Company and was proud of the product he offered to the public.

Dennis loved his life and his family. He was predeceased by his parents, his son David, his only brother David, and his step-sister Janis. He will be forever remembered and loved by Pat, his wife of 63 years; three sons Ken, Brian (Gayle), and Glenn ( Stephanie); five grandchildren Stanley (Ashley), Sarah (Davin), Tyler (Nicole), Jordan and Elizabeth (Owen); six great-grandchildren, Ryler, Preston, Willow, Hunter, Oaklynn, and Mylah; sisters Evelyn Crucil, Margaret McBride and Donna Ford Harder (Stan); step-sister Gail Irvine and many nieces and nephews.

"He is at peace now.    The battle's o'er."
