It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Dean’s passing.  He will be missed by many, left to mourn are his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Cheryl, and their son, Sean Brossard.  As well, a much loved and cherished granddaughter, Aislee and her mom, Shawna (Rob). Dean was a big brother to triplet sisters: Brenda (Ivan) Winger, Barb (Bob) Koopman, Bonnie (Barry dcd) Knoll, and a younger brother Kirk (Karen) Harvey.  Dean also had a special bond with his sister-in-law, Laura (Joe) Flores and he was a dear friend to Carol, Candy, Dave & Kathy, Pete & Judy, and Don & Louisa. Dean was also loved by many nieces & nephews and cousins.

Dean grew up on a farm in Ontario (Gormley) and moved to BC in 1974 to start a career with MacMillan Bloedel until 1998.  He then changed course to work in the oil industry in Ft Mac where he made many lasting friendships.  Dean retired in 2015, enjoying life in Lantzville mastering  yardwork, and “fixing” anything that needed fixing.  Dean and Cheryl enjoyed the last 8 years traveling, building a home, renovating another home and spending time with dear friends and family.  They enjoyed many wonderful and memorable adventures with their granddaughter Aislee. Many people will remember Dean as the fellow in the neighbourhood who would always lend a helping hand with odd jobs and fix-it projects. “A really good guy – the kind of person you are happy to see coming down the sidewalk toward you with a smile on his face.”

A very special thank you to the palliative care unit (NRGH) and Hospice, as well as Dr Ontko for his kind and compassionate care.  Also thank you to Dr Mander for the years of care and helping Dean at the end of his life.  No service at this time.
