David Parkinson
December 10, 1944 – February 2, 2025
David Parkinson, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at Oyster Harbour Senior Care in Ladysmith, British Columbia. Though the last few years of his life were affected by Alzheimer’s-related dementia, he held fast to the many memories that brought him joy—fishing, playing hockey, walking in the woods, drawing, sharing stories, and, most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a gift for making others laugh and a heart for helping those in need.
David was deeply committed to service, volunteering for various charitable organizations and passionately supporting Alcoholics Anonymous in Peterborough, Ontario. Over the years, he wore many hats, but the role he was most proud of was that of a security guard.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; his brother, Rick (Susan); his sister, Gail; and his children, Tracey, Jodie, and Dan (Phyllis). He loved and will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Erik (Alyssa), Rachel, Lindsey, Misty, Danielle (Kat), Abby (Jacob), Dakota (Hayley), and Taja, as well as his great-grandchildren, Dominic, Jaxson, and Willow. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Irene; his sisters, Sandra and Barbara; and his brother, Allen.
As family and friends are spread far and wide, no formal service will be held. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Telford’s Burial & Cremation Centre in Ladysmith, BC.
In honor of David’s memory, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Brain Injury Association would be greatly appreciated.
