Cecille Dreger Obituary

With love and sadness, the family of Cecille Dreger (nee Lannoo) announce her passing on June 12, 2025, with her children beside her at Aitken Hospice in Ocean Front Village Courtenay.

Born in St. Boniface Manitoba, Cecille grew up on the Lannoo family dairy farm in Charleswood, the youngest of four children of Suzanne and Edmund Lannoo. She married RCMP officer Robert D.S. Ward in 1956, and they raised three children, Warren, Kim, and Bob Jr. The family spent many years in Northern Canada, a region she loved. Cecille enjoyed a fulfilling career working in the NWT government. She left Yellowknife in 1984 to remarry and thereafter settled in the Comox Valley with second husband Ernie Dreger.

Cecille is survived by her children Warren and Kim (husband Victor) and granddaughter Kathleen (daughter of Bob Jr.) and her many nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. She is predeceased by son Bob Jr. d.2022, second husband Ernie Dreger d.2019 and first husband Robert (Bob) D.S. Ward d.2019.

Cecille was an avid curler, loved to play softball and golf and always enjoyed an active lifestyle. Over the years her beloved dogs Nicky, Kristi and Nikel were her favourite walking companions. Throughout her life Cecille’s greatest satisfaction and joy was in helping others. She was an enthusiastic volunteer in her retirement, devoting many years to the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society, BC Cancer Agency, Comox Valley Senior Peer Counselling and was a proud member of the Daughters of the Nile Foundation.

Cecille was truly beloved by those who had the privilege to know her, and she will be deeply missed.

A private Celebration of Life will be held locally by family and a graveside burial will be held in Winnipeg in August.
