The family of Carol Lee are saddened to share news of her passing on Oct 1, 2025, at Ocean Front Village, Courtenay BC. Carol was born to Gertrude and Thomas Hargreaves on Sept. 9, 1939, in Port Angeles, Washington, where she spent her early childhood. Carol and family then moved to Campbell River where she grew up. Carol lived in many other communities including Ocean Falls and Vancouver, finally settling in Comox BC where she was very close to and lived with her son David, and was able to visit her brother Terry. Carol also enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of many through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Carol loved painting and created many artistic watercolours over the years. A music lover, Carol was an accomplished pianist and also sang in choirs as well as enjoyed line dancing. Carol was actively involved with the Church where she played organ and had many friendships. Carol ran her own hairdressing business for many years with cherished clients until her retirement at 71 years of age. She was also a trained chef and childcare worker.
The family would like to thank Dr Sandwith for the outstanding and compassionate care. In addition, the excellent support from the Home Health staff helped Carol to remain living at home for over fourteen years. The staff and residents at Oceanfront Village provided great care and a social environment for her last year where she enjoyed playing Bingo and other activities.
Carol is survived by her brother Terry Hargreaves, and her children Cathy Thibault (Brent), Dan Jakel (Nathalie), Jana Laroche (David), and David Gurklies. She is also survived by six grandchildren (Christine, Danika, Karl, Marc, Alexandre, and Mathieu).
The family is having a private celebration. Carol cherished her friends and the church. The family appreciates you having her in your thoughts.
