Betty June (Riehl) Fountain

Betty June Fountain born June 23, 1926, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 2, 2024. Predeceased by Wally, her devoted and loving husband of 56 years. Survived by sons Steve, Harv (Lynn), Paul (Lynne), and daughter Jane (Allen), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty was born in Mitchell, Ontario, met and married Wally, and lived in Stratford until 1958. They moved to Sarnia and raised their family while being very active members of Grace United Church. They developed a large community of good friends through the church, playing bridge, square dancing, quilting, and golfing at Huron Oaks until Wally’s untimely death in 2003. Betty continued to live in Sarnia until 2010, at which time, at the age of 84, she decided to make the move to the west coast to be closer to her children. She moved to a condominium in Comox on Vancouver Island and continued to be active playing bridge, quilting and golfing. Betty enjoyed her new life in the Comox Valley with her beautiful view over the estuary to the Comox Glacier and cultivated many new friendships. To make life easier, she eventually moved to the Berwick Retirement Centre, and eventually to Glacier View Lodge where she made new friends and received regular visits from Harv who lives nearby.

Betty lived a long and gratifying life, staying generally healthy and active until her passing.
