The two were married in Rogersville, on June 11, 1946. Early in their marriage Leandre joined the RCAF and took on the nick name Pat because they didn’t know how to say Leandre. They moved from Chatham NB to St Magarettes NB, to Ottawa ON and finally Carleton Place ON after Leandre’s retirement.
In 1970 Leandre passed away and at a young age Bertha was widowed penny-less with 9 Children.
Bertha’s faith was strong and continued to raise her family until they were out on their own. Over the years she lost her three youngest sons at different times. She remained strong for her family.
