Amolina Schwartz Obituary

AMOLINA SCHWARTZ – July 17, 1927 – April 13, 2023

Amolina Schwartz passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Regional Hospital on April 13, 2023.  She was born on July 17, 1927, in the Ukraine, to Arnold and Maria Beutler, the second of six children. In 1928 the family emigrated to Canada briefly living in Whitemouth, MB and Empress, AB before finally settling in Bloomsbury, AB in the fall of 1933. It was here, surrounded by extended family, that her formative years were spent. One final move with her parents brought her to Chilliwack in 1946.

On November 5, 1948, she married Alfred Schwartz in Chilliwack.  They were blessed to raise two children, Lorne, and Elaine.

Amolina began working as a care aid at the Chilliwack Hospital shortly after arriving in Chilliwack. Except for a brief break she continued here until 1962 when they bought a dairy farm in Agassiz. In 1973 the family moved to Nanaimo where she continued to live.

She was an avid photographer most of her life. Like her mother, she was an excellent seamstress. With her daughter she produced many ceramic pieces as well as other crafts. For many years she tenaciously advocated on behalf of Lorne who’d been head injured as a teen in an MVA. She also gave generously of her time and talents in many aspects of the life and work of Hope Lutheran Congregation.

Her memory is cherished by her Son Lorne of Nanaimo; Granddaughter Amy (Ken) of Nanaimo; Grandson Trevor of Abbotsford; Great-grandchildren Calieb, Elaina, and Kenzie; Sister Barb (Gord) of Etonia SK; Brothers Ben and Walter (Blanche) of Chilliwack; as well as extended family, her church family, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 2016 and daughter Elaine in 2011.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Hope Lutheran Church - 2174 Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo

A Memorial Service will also be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church - 9460 Charles St, Chilliwack
