Katherine (Kathy) Cecil Brown

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Cecile Brown.  “Kathy” was born August 25th, 1938 in Saint Boniface Manitoba and passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 1st, 2019 in Nanaimo BC.

Kathy is predeceased by her mother Anna and father Peter Kupiec, Aunts; Mary (Mike) Bachinksi and Rose Perchuk.

Kathy is survived by siblings; Julie (Mike) Beda, Francis (Gerry) Barker, cousin;Charlie (Evangeline) Harris, children; Darren (Christine) Brown, Tamara Beaulac, and her grandchildren; Joshua, Colton and Aimee.

Kathy left Manitoba in 1967 with her two children in search of a new life on the West Coast. She settled in Nanaimo BC, where she raised her children with her husband Don.  Kathy was a caregiver at heart and spent many years working as a home support worker in the cmmunity.  In her later years, she enjoyed travelling with her sister and her best friend Eileen.  Kathy maintained a meticulous garden and was always an animal lover.  She was a devout catholic, even serving as president of the Catholic Women’s League as well as president of ITC.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 302 Machleary Street, Nanaimo BC  Friday February 8th at 11:00am.
