Gerhard SORGER

Gerhard was born in Leoben, Austria where he learned the upholstering business in his father’s shop.  He joined his Mother and family in Chicago when he was 20.  Soon he had his own upholstering business which flourished well.  When his wife died he moved closer to Sutton, Quebec to be nearer his sister and family in Montreal.  He was well-known for his meticulous restoration of antique furniture.  After he retired at 70, the last move was to Courtenay, BC to be near children and grandchildren.  He loved table tennis where he won many tournaments at the BC Seniors Games.  He enjoyed bowling and playing cards with many friends.

He leaves behind Karin, his wife and partner after 28 years, his two step-sons and five grandchildren and his sisters and brother and many nieces and nephews.   

Thank you for the kindness and care he received at the new Comox hospital for the last 2 ½ months.
